Martín and the challenge of showing Ducati that he is the good guy

The Prima Pramac Ducati has been presented in Italy and for the third consecutive year it has done so with the same pair of pilots, the one made up of the Spanish Jorge Martín and the Frenchman Johann Zarco. Both will have material black leg, of a Ducati Desmosedici GP23 like the one that Pecco Bagnaia and Enea Bastianini will have in the official box. The latter is the one who closed the move to Martinator so that he and not The Beast would occupy the place in the red box left by the departure of Jack Miller, now on KTM. The man from Madrid dreamed of seeing himself dressed in red and with the rank of official pilot, with which for this 2023 he faces the challenge of showing Ducati that he was the good guy, although it is true that Bastianini’s results were much better than his.

The man from San Sebastián de los Reyes is looking forward to it, who says: “I really want to start and I can’t wait to get back to working with the whole team. Last year was a special year, with very difficult moments, but it helped me grow and become stronger. I have big goals and a lot of ambition, and I am convinced that, together with my team, we are capable of doing great things. In Sepang, when I get on my Ducati, I will know that all the work put in during the winter break has paid off. We’re ready, I’m ready!”

Zarco, for his part, assures this: “This will be my third consecutive season at Prima Pramac Racing and I am very happy to continue here. We have a great team, a great bike and I have a great relationship with Jorge, so I think we have all the components to have a great season, and who knows, I might even get a win”. That is the pending subject that the Frenchman has in MotoGP, that of victory, something that Martín already surpassed in his debut year in the category, that of the damn pandemic.

The Prima Pramac Ducati does not change riders, but it does offer an important novelty, that of the signing of Gino Borsoi, from the Aspar team, as sports director. The Italian is a more transcendental signing than it may seem at first and he seems happy in his new position: “We are facing this season with great enthusiasm. For me it will be a new adventure, and I have a feeling that it will undoubtedly be an important year. The 2023 season will be my first at Prima Pramac Racing, and precisely, 23 has always been my number, even when I was racing, so I have a good omen. I already met the whole team in the tests in Valencia and I had a very good first impression, I was very satisfied. You can never take anything for granted in this world, but I am clear that we will always give 100%”.
