Martim Neto Goal Helps Elche Reach Copa del Rey Second Round

First-division Spanish clubs Villarreal, Rayo Vallecano, Osasuna, and Elche secured comfortable victories against lower-tier teams Wednesday, advancing to the second round of the Copa del Rey.

Villarreal posted the widest margin, crushing third-tier Ciudad de Lucena 6-0. Canadian striker Tanitoluwa Oluwaseyi led the charge with a hat-trick.

Oluwaseyi found the net in the 15th, 17th, and 71st minutes. Goals also came from Moroccan Ilias Akhomach, Georgian Mikautadze, and Santi Comesana.

Rayo Vallecano also advanced with a 6-1 win over CD Yuncos, despite initially falling behind. Aaron Garcia scored for Yuncos in the 26th minute.

Rayo responded swiftly, with Fran Perez scoring a hat-trick in just four minutes before halftime. Gerard Gumbau, Oscar Trejo, and Sergio Camello added goals in the second half.

Osasuna claimed a 5-0 triumph against CD Sant Jordi, a regional division team from Mallorca. Raul Garcia netted three goals for the visitors.

Raul Garcia scored in the 34th, 43rd, and 62nd minutes. Croatian Ante Budimir and Kike Barja rounded out Osasuna’s scoring late in the match.

Elche moved past UD Los Garres with a 4-0 victory. Portuguese midfielder Martim Neto scored the team’s second goal.

Neto’s goal came just before halftime, at 45’+1. Moroccan Adam Boayar opened the scoring, and Rodrigo Mendoza added another. Federico Redondo Solari sealed Elche’s passage in the closing stages, after UD Los Garres had Elias Fugas sent off in the 74th minute.
