Martifer Nets €16M from Real Madrid Stadium Overhaul, Costs Double

The legendary home of Real Madrid is getting a facelift, and what a makeover it is turning out to be. This massive renovation, which kicked off even before the world changed with the COVID-19 pandemic, is still a work in progress. It’s now expected to wrap up sometime next year, in 2025.

Football fans know the Santiago Bernabéu as a cathedral of the sport, but behind the scenes, the numbers tell a different story of ambition. The initial cost for this colossal project was pegged at 675 million euros. However, like many big construction jobs, the price tag has ballooned. The club’s report and accounts for the 2024/25 financial year show that by June 30, 2025, the total investment will have hit an astounding 1.347 billion euros. That’s right, the cost has essentially doubled. Real Madrid themselves noted that this figure is “already close to the total final amount foreseen.” It really underlines the scale of this undertaking.

Among the companies helping to bring this vision to life is the Martifer group. They played a significant part in updating the iconic stadium. Martifer secured three separate contracts from FCC, the Spanish construction powerhouse leading the entire project. These deals brought in a hefty 16 million euros for Martifer, marking their substantial contribution to reshaping one of football’s most hallowed grounds. It shows how many pieces have to fit together to build something truly grand.
