Wife of Wanted Drug Trafficker Arrested at Madrid Airport
Gianina García Troche, the wife of Uruguayan drug trafficker Sebastián Marset, was arrested at Barajas airport in Madrid, Spain, after arriving from Dubai with real documents. She has been placed under administrative arrest in Spain pending an extradition request from the justice system.
Extradition Process to Begin
The Paraguayan justice system has been seeking the arrest and extradition of Marset’s wife, and she will now have to wait for the extradition process to take its course. This process can take up to 30 days or longer if her defense files an appeal to delay the decision.
Collaboration between Uruguayan and Spanish Authorities
The Uruguayan police collaborated with Interpol Spain to arrest the woman through intelligence work, as is usual when dealing with Uruguayan fugitives who are on red alert abroad. The Uruguayan police had provided more than 20 intelligence reports and made more than 300 communications in this case, including information on Marset and his family.
Case to be Resolved between Spain and Paraguay
The case is now to be resolved between Spain and Paraguay, with the Spanish authorities awaiting an extradition request from the Paraguayan justice system.
