Marseille: two men shot dead

Two men were shot dead in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday in Marseille, one in the city center and a second in the northern districts, in two separate cases.

At around 10:30 p.m. first, the police were alerted following gunshots heard at Porte d’Aix, near Saint-Charles station. A 20-year-old man was found there with a serious gunshot wound to the throat, before passing away shortly after. This death is not linked to the drug trafficking that plagues the city. A second 31-year-old man, less seriously injured in the back, also by gunshot, was also rescued. Both were unknown to the police and the judicial police were seized.

Then around 2 a.m., a 25-year-old man died after being shot in the city of Renaude. Another, 21, known to the police, was found shocked at the scene. About thirty cartridge cases were found on site.

The judicial police were also seized of this case, which could itself be akin to a settling of scores under drug trafficking. 15 people have died since the start of the year, including 12 this summer, in this bloody drift that affects the Marseille city.
