Marseille: shootings have increased since early summer

Since the beginning of summer, Marseille has been the scene of reckoning. Ten youths have been shot in drug-related cases since the end of June. The police prefecture has set itself a goal: to recover the neighborhoods.

During the night from Wednesday to Thursday, two people were shot in the third district of Marseille. One was injured and the other died. He is the tenth victim in reckoning since the beginning of the summer in the city of Marseille.

This upswing demonstrates the difficulty of controlling drug trafficking despite the desire expressed last summer by Gérald Darmanin to push back the traffickers.

“It’s a long-term job,” testifies Rudy Manna, Bouches-du-Rhône departmental secretary of the Alliance Police National union. “The police alone cannot fight” against the traffic that requires “a global fight”.
