A new shooting broke out this Tuesday, September 21 in Marseille, in the Arnavaux district, in the 14th arrondissement of the Marseille city. One person died and two others were seriously injured.
According to the prosecutor of the Republic of Marseille, Dominique Laurens, the facts occurred in the early evening, around 8 p.m. The deceased, a 24-year-old young man known to the justice services, could be identified as early as Tuesday evening. The injured, two other men, are also in their twenties, according to Provence.
Their vital prognosis is engaged
Both are in serious condition and were immediately transferred to hospital. Their vital prognosis is engaged. For the time being, Dominique Laurens has not given more information concerning the course of the events or the type of firearms used by the shooters.
The Arnavaux district is one of the poorest in Marseille but, for the moment, there is nothing to concretely link this shooting to the drug trafficking which poisons the daily life of the inhabitants of the working-class districts north of the Marseille city.
If we are to believe the figures of the Prefecture of police of Bouches-du-Rhône, 16 people have been killed in the department since the beginning of the year in similar circumstances. Each time it was a matter of settling scores against a background of drug trafficking.
