Marseille: firearms become commonplace

Weapons became commonplace in Marseille, and more particularly the use of assault rifles. This is the observation made by many police unions, and which is corroborated by the increase in homicides in recent weeks.

There are said to be nearly 500 firearms seized each year in the Bouches-du-Rhône. According to newspaper information The world, half of them would be “long” weapons, such as assault rifles.

Weapons which would come mainly from the Balkans, but also from North Africa, or from thefts carried out in armories. Objects that arouse terror in certain neighborhoods.

For many police unions, the fight against firearms essentially involves dismantling drug trafficking networks. But, according to them, more means of investigation are needed.
