Márquez premieres Repsol biofuel at Jarama

Bifuel is getting closer to entering our lives and that of Marc Márquez has already done today. It was today in Madrid’s Jarama circuit, riding a Honda RC213V-S, and before it premiered he warned that “it smells different. I checked it when the mechanics were warming up the bike”.

The biofuel will arrive at the MotoGP World Championship in 2024, the year in which the gasoline tanks will carry 40% of this product, and from 2027 it will occupy 100% of the gasoline tanks of the competition prototypes.

After completing a couple of runs at Jarama with biofuel, which is made from waste that comes from industry, something that offsets the carbon footprint of conventional fuel, Marc’s first impressions have been positive, after debuting for the first time at Jarama at the handlebars of a motorcycle. He has defined it as “Very technical, one of those that demands a lot at the driving level. The problem for the bikes is that there are corners where there are no escape routes”.

“If they don’t tell me, I won’t even try it. It was possible to reach the maximum performance well”, Marc began by saying, to add: “I have noticed how does the engine rev up and the first blow of gas. It runs smooth and the engine feels free. Surely in 2023 they will polish details.

Dolores Cárdenas, Repsol engineer: “We had tested our biofuel at the Móstoles CTR with our single-cylinder engine on the test bench like the one in Saitama. It is the first time we see him on the track and with Marc. We are very happy. The key to this fuel is that you don’t notice that you have it in performance, the difference is in how we produce it, more sustainable”.
