Mark Zuckerberg: The Metaverse Will Arrive in 3 Phases and One Is Happening “Earlier Than Expected”

On an episode of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerbeg said that the evolution of virtual reality will develop similarly to that of computers and cell phones.

O players will be the first to explore the new technology, followed by social users who want to use it to interact.

But the metaverse already appears to be transforming beyond that traditional trajectory, Zuckerberg said. Consider that the fitness apps, like Peloton, they are a third step in the evolution of virtual reality because their technology connects people around the world through physical movement.

“This was my theory: ‘Gaming is the number one use case for VR [realidad virtual]’»Zuckerberg said on the podcast. “But then very quickly… we’re getting all these other use cases that are kind of crazy and happening sooner than I thought.”

Although Meta managers admitted that it can take up to 15 years to realize your metaverse vision, Elements such as games, social networks and fitness platforms have already started to attract users to virtual worlds. And Zuckerberg said that fitness apps are helping make these experiences a more immersive, almost physical reality.

This is especially important for Meta, which aims to help people connect and communicate online, Zuckerberg said.

This isn’t the first time Zuckerberg has linked virtual fitness platforms to Meta’s work. Last year at VivaTech, a French technology conference, Zuckerberg said the Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality exercise could be at the forefront of “next big computing platform”.

“It’s not that computers are going to go away or phones are going to go away,” Zuckerberg said at the time. “But I think this has the potential to be something on this scale of importance in the world.”

This evolution also aligns with Zuckerberg’s vision of the metaverse. On repeated occasions, the co-founder of Meta said that he wants the media to be more immersive and less distinct from physical reality.

“They are like the first physical computing platforms [en las que] you don’t move while on a computer»Zuckerberg said at the Joe Rogan Experience. “VR, and eventually AR, is really designed to be able to… interact with the world.”
