Mario Hezonja Suspended and Fined Ahead of Fenerbahçe Clash Tonight

Mario Hezonja will not be playing on Thursday at 18:30 hours against Fenerbahçe in Istanbul for the 26th day of the Euroleague. This is due to a sanction from the Disciplinary Committee of the Euroleague as a result of his expulsion during the game against Real Madrid in Monaco, where he received two technical fouls.

The Committee’s resolution states that “Real Madrid player Mario Hezonja has been sanctioned with a one-game suspension and a fine of 5,000 euros for showing disrespect towards the referees during the game between As Monaco and Real Madrid, according to article 27.2.b) of the Euroleague basketball disciplinary code. This decision can be appealed to the appeals judge.”

Hezonja was expelled in the second half of the game that Madrid lost in Montecarlo with a score of 77-73. The Croatian international is facing a one-game suspension and a fine of 5,000 euros. The Real Madrid club has the option to appeal the decision, which would allow Mario to play against Fenerbahçe. However, if the sanction is confirmed, the forward would have to miss the game against Barça.
