Marileidy wins the 200m at the Savona meeting

The Dominican Republic, Brazil and Dominica won gold medals today at the athletic meeting in Savona (Italy), belonging to the world athletics continental circuit.

Two titles and two subtitles were the spoils of the Quisqueyan entourage, with a highlight for the current Olympic runner-up in the 400 meters, Marileidy Paulino, who won the 200 meters with a time of 22.59 seconds.

Paulino, who last Friday dominated the 400 at the Diamond League meeting held in Doha, signed his best personal record in the double hectometer test and thus surpassed the British Daryll Neita (22.81) and the host Dalia Kaddari (22.83). ).

The other Dominican title went to Fiordaliza Cofil, who won the lap of the oval with a time of 51.36 seconds, ahead of the British Ama Pipi (52.19) and the French Sokhna Lacoste (52.81).

Meanwhile, the silvers were achieved by Yancarlos Martínez in the men’s double hectometer and Ana Lucia José in the triple jump.

This last modality was dominated by the Dominican Thea Lafond, with a jump of 14.53 meters, seven centimeters more than José.

For his part, the Brazilian Rafael Pereira won the 110 meter hurdles with a record of 13.36 seconds, better than the Italian Lorenzo Ndele Simonelli (13.80) and the Liberian Wellington Zaza (14.00).

Latin America also added a second place for the Mexican Luis Avilés in the 400 smooth (46.10 seconds), only surpassed by the Italian of Dominican origin Brayan López (46.03).
