Barcelona’s Transfer Plans Hit a Snag: Osetkowski Case Reveals Marijuana Positive Test
The transfer of American power forward Dylan Osetkowski from Unicaja to Barcelona has been put on hold, with reports from Serbia suggesting that the player tested positive for marijuana during the Endesa League competition.
According to Telesport.rs, a Serbian portal, Osetkowski tested positive for marijuana in the last dates of the competition, and is now awaiting a harsh sanction. This development could be the main reason for the temporary non-signing of the player by Barcelona.
Both Barcelona and Malaga had been expected to sign Osetkowski, with the blue and red team set to pay €800,000 for the player’s transfer. However, Unicaja’s sports director has remained silent on the matter, stating only that Osetkowski has a contract with the club and that "things can happen" in the future.
Barcelona has not made any official statements on the matter, with Juan Carlos Navarro, the club’s director, denying that they have contacted Unicaja to pay Osetkowski’s release clause. However, Navarro did confirm that the club is in the market for new players and is always studying the market.
The possibility of a long-term ban for Osetkowski’s marijuana positive test could have completely changed Barcelona’s transfer plans.
