The Tampa Bay Rays placed outfielders Kevin Kiermaier and Manuel Margot on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday, at a time when star shortstop Wander Franco is undergoing rehabilitation for his return to the game. with the big team.

The team said Kiermaier is suffering from hip inflammation, while Margot is suffering from a sprained right knee. Both players were removed from Monday’s game, in which the Rays lost 2-4 to the New York Yankees.

Regarding Margot, Rays manager Kevin Cash said that although they are awaiting the results of an MRI, due to the type of injury he could be out longer than the 10 days established in his assignment to the disabled list.

Margot, who is in her second stint on the disabled list this season, has been one of the Rays’ most consistent hitters so far this season.

The Dominican outfielder has a batting average of .302 with three homers, 21 runs scored and 27 RBIs in 51 games.

Kiermaier, who has always been recognized for his great quality on defense, has a .229 offensive line, with seven home runs and 17 RBIs.

For his part, Franco has played in two games in the minor league and rests this Tuesday before joining the team of the Triple-A classification Durham, in his rehabilitation process.

Franco will play for the Durham team in games on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, before returning to the Rays in the weekend series against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Before the injury that separated him from the team, Franco was batting .270, with four home runs, 27 runs scored and 19 RBIs.
