Rays outfielder Manuel Margot–who drove in 12 runs last week–was named Player of the Week on Monday.

Margot capped the Rays’ sweep of the A’s on Wednesday with a go-ahead, two-run single in the eighth inning. Two days later, she hit a ninth-inning three-run homer to turn the scoreboard and catapult Tampa Bay to victory over the Mariners.

Margot, who already has three hits to put the Rays ahead in the eighth inning or later this season, homered in each of the three games against Seattle and closed the week with a .500 average (12-for-24) and 1,580 OPS, best in MLB. He scored 12 runs, hit six extra-base hits and stole twice, in addition to a dozen RBIs.

He is the first Rays player to be Player of the Week since Brandon Lowe in August 2020.

On his side, Brewers first baseman Rowdy Téllez has been named National League Player of the Week.

Most of Tellez’s production came in one game, Wednesday against the Reds. In that game, the slugger set a Milwaukee franchise record with eight RBIs, part of a four-hit performance—including two home runs.

For the week, Téllez batted .321 with nine hits, three homers, three doubles and 12 RBIs. Of his nine hits, seven were extra-base hits. Now the Brewers have had Player of the Week twice in a row, the previous winner being Willy Adames.
