Three individuals have been arrested in connection with a crime against a police officer in the Marconi neighborhood. According to Prosecutor Sabrina Flores, who spoke through the Communication Director of the Prosecutor’s Office, Javier Benech, the suspects have been charged with a very especially aggravated homicide crime. The suspects will be held in preventive detention until August 6, while the investigation into the homicide continues.
One of the suspects, a 23-year-old with no prior record, was arrested on Wednesday. Another suspect, a 20-year-old with a previous record for theft, was arrested on Wednesday night while traveling in a taxi with his sister, who was also charged. The sister, a 22-year-old with no prior record, was found to be carrying a 45-caliber gun, identical to the one used in the homicide of the police officer, which occurred on Monday night in the Marconi neighborhood.
On Monday night, the police officer was riding a motorcycle on Aparicio Saravia when he was diverted due to a traffic accident. The woman and the man who have been charged as co-authors of the crime threw stones at the police officer to slow him down. When the officer stopped, the suspect who has been charged as the author of the homicide shot him seven times as the officer attempted to draw his gun. The victim fell to the ground, and the suspects tried to collect the shells from the gun, according to Benech. Initially, the suspects did not know the victim was a police officer and only realized it when he pulled out his gun.
