Marco Garcés recently spoke to the media about the winter market and the team’s current situation. He discussed the last-minute departure of Douvikas and expressed his optimism about the squad that will compete in the second part of the season. Garcés believes the current squad is better than the one they had on December 31.
Garcés also talked about the departures of Luca de la Torre, Allende, and Aidoo, stating that they played very little in the last semester. He thinks that when players play so little, their value decreases. The team plans to replace them with young players like El-Abdellaoui and Yoel Lago, who will increase their value and potential by playing in the first division.
Regarding Bamba’s departure, Garcés said that he had significant participation, playing 47.5 percent of the minutes while he was with the team. The team plans to replace him with Iker Losada, who is more aligned with Claudio Giráldez’s ideas and can contribute to the same extent.
The last-minute transfer of Douvikas was a surprise, as he played 36.7 percent of the minutes while he was with the team but had a downward trend. The player expressed interest in moving, and the team will absorb his minutes with Pablo Durán, who has been playing well. Fer López may also get some of the remaining minutes, even though he is not a traditional number 9.
Garcés mentioned that the offer for Douvikas emerged on the afternoon of the market closure, and it was a surprise. The team received the call at 2:00 p.m. and initially thought it was not serious, but the offer quickly became serious, and they reached an agreement at around 9:00 p.m.
In terms of the market balance, Garcés said that the team acts consistently with the project and the idea of committing to the quarry and daring football. They are behind Claudio Giráldez and are forming a team that meets his needs. The team is a little better sports-wise and much better financially after the market closure.
The team considered signing an attacker, but when the Boc plan did not work out due to the high cost, they decided not to bring in someone just for the sake of it. Garcés also mentioned that in the summer, they will have to continue selling players to improve their financial situation.
Finally, Garcés stated that there was no formal offer for Mingueza, despite many approaches and rumors. The team had no specific offer with the seal of any club, and therefore, no deal was made.
