Marc Márquez was beaming with a smile from ear to ear after kicking off the MotoGP season with a victory in the sprint of Thailand. This win also marked his debut appointment with the official Ducati, where he took the lead. The joy was doubled as he shared the podium with his brother Álex.
## Summary
Logically, after seeing the training, Márquez didn’t want any surprises. The first race at the Sprint of the year always comes with extra tension, regardless of how good the rhythm is or how well the weekend goes. When he saw the difference with Álex, he expected to possibly go down a bit more at the end, but he was able to continue with quite comfortable times. However, he noticed that with the hot track, the tires behaved differently. For the next day, he planned to make two or three readjustments to try to be even more constant.
## Constance in the gums
The first race is always difficult, and no matter how hard you try to evade it, there’s always that expectation and desire. Márquez tries to stay focused on his own goals, especially avoiding checking ‘WhatsApp’ because he already opened a couple of messages from a friend saying, ‘You will sweep, you are left over.’ But he knows that’s not true – this is the world championship, MotoGP, where a small error can be very costly. He tries to find the feeling he had in the test and not do more than he feels. If he doesn’t feel it, he stays where he is; maybe the next one will be better. And for the race the next day, he will see – if he goes out and feels as good as he did that day, he will try to push; if not, he’ll stay calm and go around.
Marc, on track in Buriram, has been making significant strides. His performance is a testament to his hard work and dedication to understanding the motorcycle better.
## 95 poles in the World Cup
Márquez notes that the classification sessions are another area where he struggled a bit last year. This year, it seems like he has more spark in that return attempt, and he understands the motorcycle better. However, he doesn’t want to say too much until three or four races pass. For now, he’s happy with the sprint win but not euphoric, knowing that the important thing is tomorrow’s race.
## Leader again
Márquez is happy and relaxed, and things seem to be coming out in his favor. Obviously, in sports, things can change from day to day, and what has been done so far doesn’t matter if the same intensity isn’t maintained. It’s been a perfect Saturday, with pole, victory, and his brother achieving the second position, making him super happy for Álex.
