After Pakistan cricket team's poor performance in the 2023 ODI World Cup, there is no coordination between the board and the team. Due to the team's elimination in the league phase of the world tournament, Babar Azam had to resign from his captaincy, while the coach and director also had to lose their positions. Now another case has come to light.
According to media reports, many big players may leave the Pakistan cricket team. The report states that some top cricketers are thinking about terminating their central contract with PCB. The reason for this is the board's refusal to issue a NOC (No Objection Certificate) to the players playing in foreign leagues.
Some players are reportedly upset with the board for not allowing them to play in foreign T20 leagues even after their domestic duty ends. The report quoted a source as saying that the matter gained momentum because the board recently banned some players, including Zaman Khan, Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Haris, from playing in the Bangladesh Premier League on the grounds that they had already been banned played two leagues apart from the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
We tell you that as per the current policy decided during the tenure of current PCB chief Zaka Ashraf, centrally contracted players are allowed to play in two foreign T20 leagues other than PSL. However, there is no such obligation for players who are not under central contract unless they are needed in the national team.
Babar Azam had to give up the captaincy after the team's poor performance in 2023. The head coach, batting coach, bowling coach and team director had to lose their positions. After this, Mohammad Hafeez, who had recently retired, was appointed as the director and coach and Wahab Riaz as the main selector. In the middle of the World Cup, former legend Inzamam Ul Haq had left the post of chief selector.
