Manushi Chhillar, crowned Miss World in 2017, is buzzing with talk about her upcoming movie, ‘Maalik’. She recently sat down for a candid chat with Amar Ujala. This film is a big deal for her. In her three years in Bollywood, she hasn’t had a hit yet. So, ‘Maalik’ is a super important movie for Manushi.
She was busy promoting ‘Maalik’ with her co-star, Rajkummar Rao. They even stopped by Amar Ujala’s office in Lucknow. There, Manushi played a rapid-fire round. Her answers offered some fun peeks into her thoughts.
When asked about her favorite actress, Manushi quickly named Priyanka Chopra. Then, she revealed a dream role. If she could star in a remake, she’d pick Paro from ‘Devdas’. Just imagine her in that iconic part!
Her journey since winning Miss World in 2017 has been quite a ride. She was asked if she’d delete any part of it. Manushi shared that she wouldn’t change a thing. Every moment, good or bad, taught her something valuable. She did admit one exception, though. The COVID-19 lockdown felt like a pause button on her career just as it was starting. Everything slowed down, and she felt a strong urge to do more. She wanted her films to release sooner. That’s the only time she’d wish to fast-forward.
She also spoke about how Bollywood has treated her so far. She feels it’s still early days, and things have been good. She gets treated like any newcomer in a new field. There are people who have made her feel wonderful and offered great support. Others, she hopes to get to know better. She’s still figuring things out, step by step.
What Makes a Good Film?
Manushi shared some wisdom gained from her film journey. She reflected on whether the story or the actors and production banner matter more. She explained that a film is a complete package. But if she had to choose, the story is truly the most important piece. That’s something she’s learned for sure.

However, a great story needs the right support. You definitely want a good producer who can present that story well. A good director is also vital to bring the story to life on screen. So, every single element plays a part in making a film successful. No one thing can make a movie great all by itself.
