Manoj Muntashir Challenges Anurag Kashyap, Calls Him Sick Over Brahmin Remark

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap recently sparked controversy with a comment about Brahmins, saying he’d “urinate” on them. The backlash was swift. Lyricist Manoj Muntashir took to social media to respond, posting a 2-minute 11-second video that directly addressed Kashyap’s remarks. Muntashir called Kashyap “sick” and issued a public challenge, listing 21 prominent Brahmins and daring Kashyap to name one he’d “urinate” on.

Muntashir’s video was a strong reaction to Kashyap’s initial statement, which was prompted by a user’s comment on Kashyap’s post about the delayed release of Anant Mahadevan’s film “Phule”. The user wrote, “Brahmins are your fathers; the more you seethe against them, the more they’ll make you seethe.” Kashyap responded, “I’ll urinate on Brahmins; no problem?” This comment ignited a heated debate.

Muntashir’s Rebuttal

Muntashir began his video by saying, “When income is low, controlling expenses is key. When knowledge is limited, controlling words is crucial.” He addressed Kashyap directly, “Your income is low, and so is your knowledge, so control both.” Muntashir challenged Kashyap to pick one name from the list of 21 Brahmins he provided and comment below. The list included notable figures like Chanakya, Chandrashekhar Azad, Bajirao Peshwa, and Lata Mangeshkar.

Here are the 21 names Muntashir listed:

  • Chanakya
  • Chandrashekhar Azad
  • Bajirao Peshwa
  • Lord Parashurama
  • Ramkrishna Paramhansa
  • Adi Shankaracharya
  • Mangal Pandey
  • Atal Bihari Vajpayee
  • Tatya Tope
  • Rajguru
  • Ramdhari Singh Dinkar
  • Captain Manoj Pandey
  • Bal Gangadhar Tilak
  • Deen Dayal Upadhyaya
  • Shriram Sharma Acharya
  • Bhimsen Joshi
  • Tansen
  • Lata Mangeshkar
  • Rani Lakshmibai
  • Kalidas
  • Goswami Tulsidas

Muntashir’s challenge to Kashyap was simple: name one Brahmin from the list, and Muntashir would send pictures to Kashyap’s home. He warned Kashyap that failing to do so would mean he lacked the courage to stand by his words.

Condemning Kashyap

Muntashir further condemned Kashyap, stating, “Thousands like you will come and go, but the glorious tradition of Brahmins won’t end.” Muntashir referred to Kashyap as “sick” and described his comments as “filthy.” He ended his video by saying that the Hindu society would never forgive Kashyap and others like him, who they believe work to break the country’s unity.

Muntashir concluded by offering a sarcastic solution to Kashyap’s “illness.” He suggested that 108 Brahmins could perform a ritual for Kashyap’s recovery and that they would even cover the expenses. The video ended with a clear message that Muntashir stood by his words and was ready for Kashyap’s response.
