Matt Manning pitched six scoreless innings and the Detroit Tigers scored all their runs in the fifth inning to beat the San Francisco Giants 6-1 on Wednesday, with whom they split wins in a two-game series

Manning (1-1) gave up five hits, didn’t walk and had a career-high eight strikeouts. He hadn’t won since Sept. 15, when he faced Milwaukee.

The Venezuelan Víctor Reyes and Willi Castro drove in two runs apiece. Kody Clemens and Harold Castro each drove in a run with two outs in the bottom of the fifth.

The six runs were charged to Logan Webb (11-7), who was retired after a single by Harold Castro made it 4-0.

Willi Castro greeted reliever Thomas Szapucki with a two-run double.

Reyes reached 300 career hits and extended his hitting streak to nine games.

For the Giants, Venezuelans Wilmer Flores 4-0, Thairo Estrada 4-0.

For the Tigers, Reyes 4-2 with a run scored and two produced, Castro 4-1 with a run scored and an RBI. Willi Castro 4-1 with two RBIs. The Dominican Jeimer Candelario 4-1 with a run scored.
