Manish Malhotra’s debut production, “Gustaakh Ishq,” has released its official trailer. The romantic drama features Vijay Varma and Fatima Sana Shaikh in lead roles. Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah also plays a significant character.
The trailer, launched on Monday, November 10, 2025, highlights a strong poetic theme. Vijay Varma’s character is notably depicted with a profound sense of poetry. Beautiful shayri (poetry) is heard throughout the trailer, aligning with the film’s central idea.
The narrative is set against the backdrop of Old Delhi. Naseeruddin Shah portrays a respected poet, and Fatima Sana Shaikh is cast as his daughter. Vijay Varma’s character approaches Shah to learn poetry.
During his apprenticeship, Varma’s character develops feelings for the poet’s daughter. Their mutual affection then becomes a core element of the story.
A dramatic twist is hinted at with Naseeruddin Shah delivering a powerful line. He says, “This conscience, it trembles. Sometimes before sin, sometimes after sin.”
Gulzar, the celebrated lyricist, has penned the songs for the film. Vishal Bhardwaj is responsible for the movie’s music composition. Vibha Puri has directed the project.
The film was initially titled “Ool Jalool Ishq” before its name was changed to “Gustaakh Ishq.” The movie is slated to premiere in cinemas on November 25, 2025.
