Manchester United are seriously exploring the possibility of signing striker Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna, whose contract contains a €40 million release clause. The Red Devils, who are looking to improve their attacking line, have shown interest in the 22-year-old Dutch attacker, who has made an excellent start to the season with Bologna, scoring seven goals so far.
The team led by Erik ten Hag struggled offensively as the goal drought meant they had to strengthen their attacking front. Despite previous reports linking Manchester United with other strikers, Joshua Zirkzee has emerged as an attractive option.
Zirkzee, in United’s sights
The €40 million release clause included in Zirkzee’s contract with Bologna represents an opportunity for the Red Devils, but two potential obstacles could complicate the deal. Firstly, Manchester United face Financial Fair Play (FPF) issues which could limit their ability to make a significant investment in the striker.
Additionally, Bayern Munich, Zirkzee’s former club, has a 50 percent buy and sell clause in his contract with Bologna. This means that Bayern could take advantage of the situation to acquire the striker for half of his release clause and then sell him for a profit.
Despite these challenges, Manchester United continue to assess the situation to determine whether they are ready to make the necessary investments in Zirkzee. With the January transfer market looming, fans are eagerly awaiting how this potential takeover pans out and whether the club can overcome the obstacles that come its way.
