Manchester City Prepares for FIFA Club World Cup Amid Modest Training Setup

Manchester City’s luxurious training facilities are among the best in the world, but they’re not what the team is used to right now. As they prepare for the Club World Cup, they’re keeping things simple. The team has been training at Lynn University, just outside Miami, ahead of their first game against Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca this Wednesday.

The reason for this humble setup? FIFA only pays out 15,000 euros per day to each team for training facility rentals. For a team like Manchester City, that’s not a lot. As a result, they’ve had to get creative and make do with what they have. The Bobby Campbell Stadium, where they’re training, has basic amenities like lighting and covered seating – but only for 500 people.

Location has been the top priority for Manchester City, not fancy facilities. They’ll make their debut in Philadelphia, then face Al Ain in Atlanta, and finally take on Juventus in Orlando. If they come out on top of their group, they could even get to play their knockout stage games in the same city.

Club World Cup Schedule

The team’s schedule is packed, with games coming up quickly. Here’s a rundown of what’s in store:

  • Wednesday: Manchester City vs. Wydad Casablanca
  • Next game: Manchester City vs. Al Ain in Atlanta
  • Final group stage game: Manchester City vs. Juventus in Orlando
