Manchester City is the biggest spender ahead of the Club World Cup, shelling out an estimated 127 million euros on new players. The transfer window was open from June 1 to 10, and most teams took advantage of it – only 11 out of 32 clubs didn’t make any new signings.
City brought in four new players: Bettinelli, Ait-Nouri, Reijnders, and Cherki. Chelsea was the second-biggest spender, signing Dário Essugo from Sporting, Sarr, and Delap. Real Madrid rounded out the top three, adding Alexander-Arnold and Dean Huijsen to their roster.
The spending spree wasn’t limited to European teams. Botafogo was the sixth-biggest spender, bringing in five new players: Arthur Cabral from Benfica, Cristhian Loor, Álvaro Montoro, Kaio Pantaleão, and Joaquín Correa. FC Porto made a single big signing, Gabri Veiga, but it was enough to put them seventh on the list.
Here’s how the teams stacked up:
- Manchester City: 127.2 million euros, 4 new players
- Chelsea: 70.3 million euros, 3 new players
- Real Madrid: 68.9 million euros, 2 new players
- Inter Milan: 36.6 million euros, 2 new players
- Borussia Dortmund: 32.3 million euros, 1 new player
- Botafogo: 24.6 million euros, 5 new players
- FC Porto: 15 million euros, 1 new player
Some teams, like Benfica, didn’t make any new signings. Others, like Al Hilal and Flamengo, brought in new players without spending any money on transfer fees. Al Ain and Al Ahly were the busiest teams, adding eight and six new players to their rosters, respectively.
