Man falls from cruise ship into water off Florida coast

The Coast Guard said Tuesday it is looking for a man who fell overboard from the Carnival cruise ship Magic 185 miles (300 kilometers) east of Jacksonville, Florida.

Planes and ships assisted in the search of the 35-year-old passenger, the guard said in a statement.

He added that the man’s partner reported him missing on Monday evening. A video taken by the ship’s security camera shows that the man “he leaned over the railing of his cabin balcony and fell into the water” around 4 in the morning.

Carnival said the Coast Guard dropped the search on board and ordered the captain to return to port in Norfolk, Virginia. The 1,000-foot (300-meter) long vessel can carry up to 4,000 passengers.
