Man Condemned for Drug Trafficking Linked to Rocha Beach and Ciudad de Plata Seizures

A man has been sentenced to 8 years and 6 months in prison for his involvement in drug trafficking activities. The investigation was led by Angelita Romano, the narcotics prosecutor of the 4th turn. The convicted person was found to be connected to multiple drug operations, including the discovery of 1,360 kilograms of cocaine in bags scattered on San Antonio de Rocha beach in February 2022.

The man had rented a house to organize the criminal activity and used several vehicles to transport the drugs. His connection to this case was established through fingerprints found in the leased house. Additionally, he was linked to another case involving the seizure of nearly 700 kilograms of cocaine in Ciudad de Plata in September 2024. Although the man managed to escape when the police arrived, a hat found at the scene was analyzed for DNA, which linked him to the incident, according to Javier Benech, the Director of Communication of the Prosecutor’s Office. The combination of evidence from these cases led to the man’s conviction and subsequent sentencing.
