Man builds revolving house as monument of love for his wife

It’s not exactly on par with India’s Taj Mahal, but a family home in a small town in northern Bosnia is, in its way, a monument to love.

The house in Srbac was designed and built by Vojin Kusic, 72.

With a green facade and a red metal roof, you can rotate a full circle to satisfy your wife Ljubica’s changing wishes as to what she would like to see when she looks out the windows.

"After reaching an advanced age and after my children took over the family business, I finally had enough time to take it upon myself to grant my wife her wish to be able to change the position of the rooms in her house whenever she wanted, ”said Kusic .

When they married many years ago, Kusic had built a conventional home for himself and his wife, in which they raised their three children.

At that time, his wife wanted the sun to come into the bedrooms, and that’s how they built their home.

But this meant that his living room was away from the road. After a while, he says his wife complained that "couldn’t see people coming into our front yard" and Kusic had to remodel everything.

“I had to tear down the wall between our two bedrooms to turn them into a living room and move all the (electrical) facilities. It was a very demanding task, it cost me a lot, but I did what she wanted, “he said.

Then, six years ago, the only one of Kusic’s three children who had not moved out of the house got married and his parents decided to let him live on the top floor of his family’s house, while they moved downstairs.

“Once again, this time on the ground floor, I had to start tearing down some walls, at which point, in order not to wait for my wife to change her mind again, I decided to build a new rotating house so that she could rotate it like it pleases him ”, he expressed.

Kusic, who didn’t get a chance to go to college, designed and built his revolving house himself, using electric motors and the wheels from an old military transport vehicle.

“Now our front door swings too, so if you see unwanted guests heading our way, you can turn the house around and make them turn around,” he joked.
