Malta: Discovering Matthew, non-binary

Malta, the smallest state in the European Union, is the European champion for the respect of the rights of sexual minorities, and of non-binary people. This is the case with Matthew, in this excerpt from “We Europeans”.

Matthew is 21, and he wasn’t always called that. At birth, her first name was that of a little girl. But this identity is no longer his. “My journey started when I was young, I felt like I was in a body that is not mine. At 14, I came out as a lesbian, but I couldn’t tell. ‘expressing so far. At 16, I came out as a trans, male.

“And at 19, I came out as a non-binary”, replies Matthew, who wants us to forget his first name but who does not deny his past as a little girl. “I don’t identify with a man or a woman, I’m neither. I’m just Matthew.” The rest of this report will be watched in We, the Europeans, at 10:45 am on France 3 on Sunday, October 10.
