The South African team, which is playing a two-match Test series at home against India, has to travel to New Zealand in early February 2024 where the team will play a two-match Test series. In this context, the African Cricket Board announced a 14-member team in which there were many surprising decisions. In this Test series, the captaincy of the African team was handed over to a player who has not yet made his debut in the international format. Africa has to play the first test match of the New Zealand tour from February 4th to 8th and the second match from February 13th to 17th.

This uncapped player was named captain of the African team

Neil Brand will take over as captain of the 14-man South African team announced for the tour of New Zealand. Neil, 27, has played 51 first-class matches so far and scored 2906 runs at an average of 39.27, while he also took 72 wickets as a left-arm spin bowler. The main reason for the inclusion of many new players in the team for this tour is that the main player at that time was busy playing in the South Africa T20 League.

Only these three players from the current team were selected for the New Zealand tour.

The South African Test team currently playing against India includes only three players who were included in the team for the New Zealand tour. These include the names Keegan Pietersen, Zubair Hamza and David Bendingham. Apart from this, if we talk about the team, there are six players who are yet to make their debut in international cricket. Neil Brand will be the first player in international cricket to make his debut as captain of a Test team in international cricket since 1995.
