Mahira Khan celebrates Aag Lagay Basti Mein crew as Eid release shatters Rs420 million box office

The global box office is officially paying attention. Mahira Khan and Fahad Mustafa took a massive gamble on a gritty action-comedy, and it is paying off. Their Eid ul Fitr release, Aag Lagay Basti Mein, just crossed the Rs420 million mark worldwide in its third week. That is Rs42 crore. ARY Films clearly has a hit on their hands, but Khan is keeping the focus entirely on the crew that made it happen.

Taking to Instagram, the actor posted an emotional tribute to the massive behind-the-scenes team. This was not a standard studio-mandated thank you. Khan specifically named the lighting technicians, makeup artists, costume designers, and sound engineers. She called the production a journey filled with learning, growth, and connection, according to a detailed report highlighting her social media message.

The film is a major departure for Khan. She plays Almass, a working-class woman who gets dragged into a chaotic Dubai heist alongside her husband Barkat, played by Mustafa. The project was helmed by debutant director Bilal Atif Khan.

Khan made sure to highlight the director’s vision. She praised Bilal Atif Khan, stylist Babar Zaheer, art director Hira M Saad, and Mustafa for having the guts to make this film. She noted that Mustafa, who also co-produced the project, elevated everyone around him on set. Fans pushed the film to a Rs27.2 crore opening weekend. Khan credited their overwhelming support for motivating the crew through grueling production hours.

This box office milestone proves audiences are hungry for genre risks. Her evolving career trajectory, which recently saw fans demand global collaborations with international stars, is paying dividends. Aag Lagay Basti Mein proves that stepping out of the traditional romance mold into dark heist territory brings serious theatrical returns.
