The recent OTT release of “Nadaaniyan” starring Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor has proven to be a disappointment, failing to impress both audiences and critics alike. The film’s poor reception has been further amplified by the immense criticism it’s facing on social media platforms. Even Hrithik Roshan’s mother, Pinky Roshan, expressed her disapproval in a post, stating that she didn’t enjoy the film. However, actress Mahima Chaudhry has a different perspective on the matter. In fact, she drew a parallel between the negative reactions “Nadaaniyan” is receiving and those faced by Ranbir Kapoor’s “Animal”.
Mahima, who plays the role of Neelu Jayasingh, Khushi Kapoor’s mother in the film, was asked about her thoughts on the social media reviews in an interview. She responded by saying that a similar situation had occurred with “Animal” as well. Mahima believes that audiences have always had diverse opinions about films, and it’s perfectly normal for a movie to receive negative reviews. “People have different views, whether it’s ‘Animal’ or any other film. Some people like realistic cinema, while others prefer fantasy. Sometimes I want to watch real cinema, and sometimes I prefer something lighter. This will always be the case,” she explained.
The actress also revealed that her family and friends have been praising her performance in “Nadaaniyan”. Mahima said, “After the film’s release, I called some of my friends and close ones, and most of them told me they had already seen the film. I’ve been receiving a lot of love and positive messages in my direct messages.” Despite the negative reactions on social media, Mahima’s personal circle has been supportive of her work in the film.
For those who may not be aware, “Nadaaniyan” premiered on Netflix on March 7 and boasts a talented cast, including Khushi Kapoor, Ibrahim Ali Khan, Mahima Chaudhry, Dia Mirza, Jugal Hansraj, Meezaj Jafri, Archana Puran Singh, and Apoorva Mehta. The film was directed by Shauna Gautam and produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Entertainment. While the movie may not have resonated with everyone, Mahima’s optimistic outlook and the support from her loved ones are a testament to the fact that opinions about films are subjective and varied.
