Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won the title by winning by 5 wickets in the final match of IPL Season 16 against Gujarat Titans (GT). With this win, Chennai has now equaled Mumbai Indians (MI) in terms of winning the trophy the most times in IPL history. Under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the team performed well throughout the season and won the title. This season, a different craze was seen among the fans regarding Dhoni. Dhoni also left alone after the final match at 3 am to thank the fans present at the stadium.
Due to the rain disturbance in the final match, the first match was held on the reservation day. After this, when the match was played on 29 May, the game had to be stopped for around 2 hours due to rain again after the Gujarat innings. The match resumed on May 30. Following this, Chennai won the title around 1:30 in the night.
After Chennai’s victory, the happiness of the fans present in the stadium was evident through their tears. Dhoni also did not waste the love he received from the fans throughout the season to greet them in the final match. Around 3 in the morning, he went alone to thank the fans present at the stadium. Responding to the speculation about his withdrawal from the IPL after the victory in the final match, Dhoni said that he still has plenty of time to decide. I should retire, but from the way the fans have loved me all season, it seems like one more season should be played.
