Magnitude 6.2 earthquake in eastern Tajikistan

Earthquake shocks have been felt in the eastern regions of Tajikistan today, Thursday, February 23.

According to the Reuters news agency, the US Geological Survey said that the magnitude of the earthquake was 6.2 on the Richter scale, while the depth of the earthquake was about 20 kilometers.

According to local media, the earthquake in Tajikistan occurred at 5:43 a.m. local time on Thursday, February 23.

Due to the earthquake, panic spread in the areas and people came out of their houses in fear. According to reports, no immediate loss of life or property was reported.

Apart from this, the Chinese media say that an earthquake of magnitude 7.3 occurred near the Xinjiang region of China and the border of Tajikistan. Earthquake tremors were also felt in the Chinese cities of Kashgar and Artiks. The epicenter of the earthquake was 82 km away from the Chinese border.

The earthquake occurred near the border between the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region.
