American artist Madonna has returned home after a several-day hospital stay and is “feeling better,” a source close to the case told AFP on Thursday.
The 64-year-old pop superstar contracted a “serious bacterial infection” that landed her in an intensive care unit, her representative, Guy Oseary, said Wednesday in a statement posted on social media.
Although she is expected to make a full recovery, he added, the artist had to delay her “Celebration” world tour, in honor of her four-decade career, which was due to start on July 15.
In the United States, the tour, of a total of 84 dates, includes Detroit, Chicago, Miami and New York, the city where Madonna began her rise to stardom. It also includes various performances in Europe and four concerts in Mexico City.
Oseary promised to communicate the new start date of the tour as soon as possible.
In 2020, the seven-time Grammy winner underwent hip replacement surgery following an injury sustained on her “Madame X” tour.
