A 21-year-old man died after being hit by a motorist in front of a nightclub in Mâcon, Saône-et-Loire, on the night of Thursday to Friday. The accident left a total of one dead and three injured.
The driver of the vehicle was taken into police custody for intentional homicide.
According to a police source, the driver tested positive for alcohol. As he exited a parking lot, he ran over a man before continuing on his way, then came back at full speed and struck another young man.
According to firefighters, this 20-year-old was seriously injured and was in cardiorespiratory arrest when help arrived. The prefecture said he died in hospital. The 20-year-old driver ended his career in another vehicle where a slightly injured young man slept, according to a police source.
In all, three young men, between the ages of 20 and 30, were slightly injured, according to firefighters. The driver of the offending vehicle, as well as his passenger, were detained, police said without elaborating.
