Lyon’s 2-1 win over Lille was a major blow to their rivals. It pushed them up to 4th place. They’ll stay there if Strasbourg doesn’t beat Reims on Sunday.
André Gomes’ team started strong. Bafodé Diakité scored in the first minute. But Paulo Fonseca’s old team, Lille, tied it up with a penalty kick from Alexandre Lacazette.
The second half was all Lyon. Rayan Cherki scored the winner in the 70th minute. He’s having an amazing season with 9 goals and 18 assists.

Lyon moved ahead of Nice and Nantes in the standings. They now have 48 points. The gap between 2nd and 7th place is just 4 points.
Next up for Lyon is a big match against Manchester United in the Europa League quarterfinals. They’re looking good going into that one.
