Lula in Egypt: talks on Gaza and bilateral relations

The Egyptian President, Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, received his Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on Thursdayin one Visit to Egypt celebrate Talks about the war that has been raging between Israel and Hamas in Gaza for more than four months.

The discussions also focused on “Joint coordination in international forums, taking into account the regional weight of both countries”said Egyptian President’s spokesman Ahmed Fahmy.

He noted that Lula’s visit to Cairo coincided with both countries’ celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Lula, who is making his third trip to Africa since returning to power in January 2023, will travel to Addis Ababa laterwhere he will take part on the 17th and 18th Guest at the African Union Annual Meetinga summit that brings together the heads of state of 55 countries on this continent.

It will also be an occasion for this Meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbasto provoke the conflict in the East, according to Brasilia.

Aside from that, Egypt and Ethiopia are among the new members that have just joined the Bricsa group of emerging economies that previously only included Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
