Sunday brought a notable upset on the clay courts of Braga. Croatian tennis player Luka Mikrut clinched the Challenger circuit tournament title. He battled and beat Lithuania’s Vilius Gaubas in a two-set final match.
Mikrut, currently ranked 239th in the world, was considered the underdog. He faced off against Gaubas, who holds a much higher rank at 143rd on the ATP ladder. Yet, Mikrut played a strong game. He secured his victory with set scores of 6-3 and 6-4. The intense match lasted for two full hours.
This 21-year-old Croatian has been making a name for himself in 2025. The Braga win is his second title this year on the secondary tennis circuit. He also celebrated a win at the Como tournament in Italy back in August.
