Chandler Parsons, a former player for the Dallas Mavericks, claims that Luka Doncic cried upon learning of his unexpected transfer to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis. Parsons made this statement on his program ‘Run it back’ on Fanduel TV, saying, “I don’t think Jason Kidd (Dallas coach) didn’t know … Luka Doncic has just bought a 15 million dollar house in Dallas. Apparently, he cried when he found out …”.
Luka Doncic’s father, Sasa, also expressed his disappointment with the transfer, stating, “I think Luka didn’t deserve this at all. I know he sacrificed himself”. Parsons defined the transfer as “extreme nonsense” and believes that the Mavericks “have done a bad business” with the operation and have been “disrespectful” to Luka Doncic, who joined the Mavericks from Real Madrid in 2018.
Parsons’ biggest concern is how the transfer was handled, saying, “My biggest problem is, professionally and respectfully, how they handled it … most of those star players have a dynamic and a dialogue with the directive, with the owners, about what will happen. I find it extremely disrespectful. It seems to me a bad business that you go and do this”. He also points to Nico Harrison, the General Manager of the Mavericks, as the culprit behind the transfer and believes that Mark Cuban, the owner of the Mavericks, is as confused as the rest.
The transfer has caused a stir, with the base reaching his new city in a private plane and being received by Rob Pelinka, the general manager of the Lakers. Luka Doncic will also undergo a medical examination with his new team. Chandler Parsons has sent several messages to Mark Cuban, expressing his disappointment with the transfer.
Reaction to the Transfer
Sasa Doncic, Luka’s father, was very upset with the decision of the Mavericks to transfer his son to the Lakers without bothering to consult him. He stated, “With this change, the hypocrisy of the organization of Dallas hurts personally. I think Luka did not deserve this at all. I know that he sacrificed himself a lot”. Doncic’s father also recalled that “Luka played 100 games last season, averaging almost 40 minutes per game … talking about Luka’s physical condition after that is simply unfair”.
