Luka Doncic Sinks OT Winner As Lakers Defeat Nuggets 127-125

The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Denver Nuggets 127-125 in overtime on Saturday night. Los Angeles superstar Luka Doncic hit a game-winning 17-foot fall-away jumper over Spencer Jones with exactly 0.5 seconds remaining in the extra period. Immediately following the shot, Doncic sealed the outcome by blocking a desperation heave from Tim Hardaway Jr. as time expired.

The victory broke a critical tie in the congested Western Conference standings. Entering Saturday, the Lakers, Nuggets, Houston Rockets, and Minnesota Timberwolves were all deadlocked with 41 wins in a battle for the No. 3 seed. The high-stakes matchup impacted the landscape of professional sports this weekend, as the win extended the Lakers’ current winning streak to five games and clinched the 2025-2026 regular-season series over Denver.

Doncic finished the contest with a 30-point, 13-assist, and 11-rebound triple-double. He was acquired by Los Angeles in a major trade deadline deal from the Dallas Mavericks in February 2025.

The Lakers reached overtime due to late-game execution by Austin Reaves, who recorded a team-high 32 points. Trailing 118-115 with 5.2 seconds left in regulation, Reaves made his first free throw and intentionally missed the second. He grabbed his own rebound off the front rim and sank a floater with 1.9 seconds remaining to tie the game.

For Denver, Nikola Jokic logged his 27th triple-double of the season with 24 points, 16 rebounds, and 14 assists. Aaron Gordon contributed 27 points. Nuggets guard Jamal Murray struggled heavily from the floor, shooting 1-for-14 for just five points before fouling out 31 seconds into the overtime period.
