Only four personalities in the history of Espanyol have shared the double privilege of having been international with Spain while they defended the blue and white shirt and, years later, having also addressed to the team from the bench. Luis Garcia, the current coach, is one of them. And since this Monday it looks like this in the Juan Segura Palomares Auditorium of the Stage Front Stadium.
Before leaving for the estancia in Marbella, the club, the Foundation and the Penyes Federation they have proceeded to hang the picture of the Asturian in the Trainers Gallery, just in front of the one that years ago already shines from his stage as an international with the Red. “For me it is a real pride to be in both walls, in that of the internationals and that of the coaches, in the same way that it is a great responsibility that I feel deep inside”, Luis meant in statements to the Espanyol media.

“Have I really want to do things well”, stated the coach, who expressed his wish that “I hope we don’t have to put in more coaching staff for a long time because things are going wellbecause the team’s game is positive”. They accompanied him, in addition to his second, Mario Fernandezboth the CEO of the club, Mao Ye Wuas the sports director, Fran Garagarzaand the ambassador and legendary Rafael Marañónamong others.
After Zamora, Perico Solé and Sergio
And, of course, the president of the Fundació could not be missing either, Antoni Fernandez Teixidowho highlighted that singularity of appearing on both walls, something that until now was reserved for Ricardo Zamora, Perico Solé and Sergio González. And he also praised the commitment that the current Espanyol coach has ahead of him: “We have to take the team to Primera again, and the sooner we do it, the more satisfied we will be”.
