Andy Flower is appointed head coach of the RCB men’s team

From the Indian Premier League’s inaugural season in 2008 to its 16th season in 2023, there were few teams that played every season but failed to win a single title. One of them is the Royal Challengers Bangalore team. This team has never been short of veterans, but what was missing was just an IPL title. Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid, Daniel Vettori, Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers, more than one veteran player has added to this team. Virat Kohli has become the greatest player to have featured uninterruptedly since 2008, despite failing to bring the team the title. Ahead of the upcoming 2024 season, the team has now started to win the first title almost a year in advance. Two veterans who have been associated with the team since 2018 have now left the team. At the same time, a big name has joined the team in his place.

RCB gave an update on Hesson and Bangar

We would like to announce that Mike Hesson and head coach Sanjay Bangar, who have been associated with RCB since 2018 as Director of Cricket Operations, have now left. A few days ago, such reports had come to the fore, which the RCB franchise confirmed with its farewell tweet on Friday, August 4th. In the same episode, RCB tweeted Friday, announcing that former head coaching veteran Andy Flower, having recently left the Lucknow Super Giants, has now joined RCB as head coach. At the same time, the departure of Hesson and Bangar from RCB was confirmed.

Andy Flower becomes RCB coach

Significantly, Andy Flower is said to be in touch with several franchises, according to a report by Cricbuzz published July 18. It has now been confirmed by the IPL franchise itself that RCB have appointed Andy Flower as their men’s team head coach. Apart from Flower, AB de Villiers can also take on responsibilities as a mentor with this team. However, there is no official announcement yet. Flower’s two-year deal with the Lucknow Supergiants had recently expired and was not renewed by the franchise, and Australian veteran Justin Langer was appointed manager in his place.

Andy Flower has immense coaching experience

If we talk about experience, Andy Flower has a lot of experience coaching the team. He has also coached teams in the CPL, PSL and the UAE T20 League. He also served as an advisor to the Australia team’s coaching staff during the last Ashes. He was part of the Australian dressing room for the last three Ashes Tests. RCB has done very well under the leadership of Hesson and Bangar. After 2019, the team also made the playoffs three times in a row. Unfortunately, in 2023, the team failed to make the playoffs. Now the support staff of the team can see big changes in the coming days.
