Luca Vildoza and Baskonia meet in court

New chapter in the soap opera court between Vildoza and the Buesa club. Baskonia’s Sports Director, Félix Fernández, revealed this Thursday that the club and Luca Vildoza’s agents will face each other next October 27 in a court in Vitoria, for a judge to decide if the Catalan team should receive financial compensation after the signing of the Argentine player by Red Star last season. The head of the sports area of ​​the Basque club indicated that the cause is ongoing and that when the time comes they will defend their interests.

In October 2022, when the Argentine point guard joined the Serbian team, Baskonia assured that they agreed with the player keep sports rights out of the NBA, a competition in which he played after leaving the Vitoria team in 2021. “In the case of signing for a club outside the NBA, either the player or the club they join must financially compensate Baskonia,” they explained in a press release at the time. In the second instance, he denounced that the hiring of the Argentine by the Red Star was carried out “without the participation or consent of Baskonia, without even receiving any communication in this regard, and without paying the agreed financial compensation, which is an very serious breach of the agreements reached for his departure to the NBA, attributable to the player and the club of destination of the same”.

“If the previous agreements are not fulfilled within the required deadlines, Baskonia will proceed to exercise the appropriate legal actions, in defense to the last extreme of his rights, both against Luca Vildoza, and against Red Star as jointly and severally responsible for such behavior in accordance with the regulations governing the Euroleague”, the club concluded in the statement.
