A Canadian, who had forgotten his lottery ticket in his wallet for over two months, initially believed he had won “only” $ 20,000, before realizing he had become a millionaire.
As the Quebec newspaper tells it Narcity, Jerry Knott, a resident of the province of Manitoba, had validated his ticket last August and then completely forgot about it for weeks.
But in mid-October, while doing his pockets, he puts his hand on his ticket and decides to scan it to see if he has won anything. He sees a nice sum on the screen. “I saw a 2 and lots of zeros. I thought ‘cool’, I won $ 20,000 ”. The manager of the store where he has his ticket checked is stunned. “It’s the winning ticket,” she replies.
Jerry Knott doesn’t understand what’s going on. He is unaware that a big winner is wanted. “I didn’t understand what she was talking about until I saw a lot more zeros.
There was a 20 and six zeros, he recalls. In reality, Jerry had won not 20,000 but 20 million Canadian dollars (some 14 million euros, note). A real jackpot, then.

However, the Canadian does not plan to spend his fortune on a luxury car, a Rolex or a villa. The lucky one intends to invest his millions in a family business. “Some time ago my father set up a reserve on Big Stone Lake. My brother and I decided to build chalets there to serve as treatment and experimentation centers in the heart of nature, ”he said.
In doing so, Jerry already plans to build five new cabins. A long-term investment, but also for “the good of the community”, he stressed.
