Los Alcarrizos cable car shows 85% progress

The second line of Cable car of Santo Domingo Los Alcarrizos presents an advance in the work of 85% of what was projected in its work schedule.

The information was released during the visit made by the President of the Republic Luis Abinader Corona to station number 4 located in the Los Americanos sector of the aforementioned municipality, accompanied by the Minister of the Presidency Joel Santos, and the director of the Office of Urban and Interurban Mobility Projects, Jhael Isa.

This work is being built by the Unit for the Readjustment of Neighborhoods and Environments (URBE), attached to the Ministry of the Presidency (Minpre), as part of the Integrated Transport System (SIT) managed by the Office of Urban and Interurban Mobility Projects.

A note explains that the other two important components of the construction are the electromechanical with an advance of 75% and the electrical works with an advance of 50% in its installation.

All the electromechanical component equipment is located in Dominican territory which ensures compliance with the times of the work.

Electrical power supply
The power supply works for the 21KV circuit that will connect the 4 stations are currently in progress.

The Alcarrizos Cable Car forms part of one of the strongest pillars of President Abinader’s administration, whose vision has focused on creation of a social transport system, accessible to the majority of the populationmanaging to solve a national problem that limits the inclusive development and sustainable growth of Dominican society.

This concept of social transport has the objective of providing citizens with an economical and quality transport system, which allows each citizen to carry out their daily activities of mobilization to their places of work, studies, and recreation without increasing the family budget. , but above all allowing to connect dozens of communities that have been disconnected from the heart of the city.

The Alcarrizos Cable Car will connect with the new line of the Santo Domingo Metro, making it easier for citizens to move in a system that will have a positive impact on the domestic economy, allowing them to save on transportation costs and increasing the monthly availability of their income.

The Santo Domingo Cable Car Line 2 is a cable transportation system that is under construction in the municipality of Los Alcarrizos, in the province of Santo Domingo.

Its main objective is provide the municipality with a collective transport servicewhich improves the internal mobility of the municipality and allows connection with other modes of transport, allowing the citizens of this area to travel to carry out their work, study, leisure and shopping activities in a quality, fast and comfortable mode of transport , safe, regular and with a low environmental impact.

The system will be made up of four stations, a car garage, 25 bollards, 163 cars, 4.20 km of line and a speed of 7 m/s. The system will have a capacity of 4,500 passengers per hour per direction (pphs) and will use the declutching clamp system.
