Lopetegui, very angry with Wolverhampton

These are difficult times in Wolverhampton. Just a couple of months ago, Molineux Stadium erupted with joy as the team secured their goal of avoiding relegation. However, the club is now plunged into a deep crisis that directly affects its coach and the main architect of last season’s miracle: Julen Lopetegui. The club announced that due to the financial constraints of fair play, they had to turn their project around completely. Stars were asked to leave and new signings were limited to minimal costs.

Consequently, the situation is incredibly challenging for the Spanish coach. During this transfer market, Lopetegui has witnessed the departures of Moutinho, Diego Costa, Adama Traoré and Collins. Besides, players like Podence or Raúl Jiménez can also follow his example. Several of them, even holders, have either not renewed their contracts or have been sold to the highest bidder.

On the other hand, the outlook is equally scary when it comes to new signings. According to the newspaper ACE, Wolves lack the financial capacity to attract top players from the Premier League, forcing them to look at Championship options. However, even there they encounter difficulties. So far, his only signing has been Boubacar Traoré, a 21-year-old Metz midfielder, for just 11 million. The situation is delicate.

Lopetegui wants reinforcements

The Basque coach already warned weeks ago that he wanted a competitive team, otherwise he would not be able to avoid falling to the bottom of the Premier League classification table. The ‘wolves’ have been spending huge amounts of money for several seasons and this has meant that the club is currently not in a good moment since it does not play European competitions either.
