An English professional soccer player was among 11 people injured in a mass stabbing aboard a train bound for London on Saturday, his club confirmed.
Jonathan Gjoshe, who plays for Scunthorpe United in England’s fifth division, is currently hospitalized but his life is not in danger. The club provided the update on his condition.
“We can confirm that Jonathan was injured in the attack but remains in hospital,” Scunthorpe United said in a statement. “Due to ongoing investigations, we cannot provide further information at this time.”
The club expressed well wishes for Gjoshe and all other victims on the train. “Everyone at the club, from the board, management and his teammates, along with all staff, send our sincere wishes for a full recovery to Jonathan, which also extend to all victims who were on the train.”
