Riot Games is preparing an opening ceremony for the 2025 League of Legends World Championship that aims to redefine live entertainment for esports, integrating immersive technology with its iconic gaming universe.
The event’s ambition is highlighted by Maria Egan, Riot Games’ Global Head of Music and Events. Egan stated the ceremony will push “new boundaries for its award-winning stage production” with a collaboration unlike anything done before.
The experience will fuse League of Legends intellectual property with the “visionary visual art” of headlining DJ and producer Anyma. This approach aims to solidify the Worlds among the globe’s most iconic cultural events.
Anyma, known for blending technology, art, and music in immersive spectacles, will work with Riot Games’ creative team and global event producer Done and Dusted. Their goal is to bring the League of Legends world of Runeterra to life for Act III of the ceremony. He previously gained acclaim for his residency at Sphere Las Vegas.
“I’ve been an avid gamer my entire life, so headlining Worlds 2025 is a true honor,” Anyma said. He added that Riot Games’ storytelling on such a grand scale feels “truly limitless.”
Anyma expressed excitement to contribute his sound and touch to the game’s universe, seeking to push “the boundaries of what’s possible” through an impactful medium.
Anyma will join Chinese star G.E.M. on stage for a special performance of the official Worlds 2025 anthem, “Sacrifice.” The song was recently released, accompanied by a video showcasing iconic players and plays.
Also participating in the show will be singer Chrissy Costanza, known for the previous theme “Legends Never Die,” and Austrian composer TEYA.
The grand finals of Worlds 2025 will take place on November 9 at the Dong’an Lake Sports Park Indoor Gymnasium in Chengdu, China. Fans can follow the broadcast through official League of Legends Esports channels on platforms like Twitch and YouTube.
